Tradition of Excellence
Since our 1923 beginning in Philadelphia, steady growth has culminated in our present 25,000 square foot facility in suburban Dresher. Although most of our customers are located in the Delaware Valley, we have developed accounts throughout the United States.

Over the years the Robert Wooler Company has earned an excellent reputation in tool and die heat treatment. In fact, we process tool steels for several hundred different customers each year. However, tool steel heat treatment accounts for less than one quarter of our business. The bulk of our processing is in the service of the automotive and aircraft industries. We are approved to do heat treating for nuclear, military and major aircraft manufacturers. Furthermore, we have achieved NADCAP accreditation for virtually all heat treating and brazing procedures.

Computerized Control

In order to assure our customers of high quality, repeatable processes, we are fully computerized. All work received for heat treating is entered into our mainframe computer. Actual process histories are stored including fixturing information, time and temperature detail, certification requirements and all other pertinent information.

Extensive Services
The variety of furnace systems that we have allows us to provide a full range of heat treating services. Our controlled atmosphere, integral quench furnaces are used for carburizing, carbonitriding, normalizing and neutral hardening.

We also have a wide range of vacuum furnaces. Currently we operate two large single-chamber positive pressure furnaces, one 6-bar vacuum furnace, one integral oil quench vacuum furnace, and one vacuum tempering furnace. This combination of vacuum furnaces enables us to do bright neutral hardening of tool steels, stainless steels and all alloys as well as vacuum brazing and bright annealing of all ferrous and many non-ferrous materials.

These primary furnace groups are complemented by many specialized units including neutral salt, fluidized bed, induction, shaker hearth, cryogenics and fifteen tempering ovens and furnaces. Also, our straightening department is fully staffed and equipped to help meet the closest tolerances for straightness, flatness and roundness.

Quality Assurance
To support our processing equipment, we have developed a Quality Assurance Department. Our modern metallurgical laboratory is capable of sample preparation, metallographic evaluation, and hardness testing from micro-hardness to Brinell. Quality Assurance is responsible for retention of furnace charts, process sheets, and specimen mounts for a period of ten years. It also maintains aircraft, aerospace, nuclear and military specifications to the latest revisions.

The Robert Wooler Company is open for inspection by our customers at their convenience. Our fleet of trucks run regularly scheduled routes covering approximately a 35-mile radius from our plant in Dresher, PA. however, arrangements can be made for delivery services outside our standard routes. We stand ready to meet your heat treatment needs.
